Local Support

Mental Health Resources in Croydon

If you're not ready for therapy, or if you need something I can't offer, these are worth knowing about. Not every problem needs a therapist. Sometimes you need a crisis line, a GP, or a free service that can see you sooner than I can.

Local Resources

Mental Health Croydon

A directory of mental health services, support groups, and resources in the Croydon area. A good starting point if you're not sure what's available.

Crisis Support

If you're in crisis or need immediate support:

  • Samaritans: 116 123 (free, 24/7)
  • NHS Crisis Line: 111 (option 2 for mental health)
  • In an emergency: 999 or go to A&E

NHS Talking Therapies

The NHS offers free talking therapies through the Talking Therapies programme (formerly IAPT). Wait times can be several weeks and the work is usually short-term CBT, but it's a real option if cost is a barrier. Some people start here and move to longer-term work later.

You can self-refer through your GP or directly through the local service.

If you're weighing this up against private therapy, I've written a fuller guide to private therapy vs NHS Talking Therapies in Croydon.
